A George V drawer action vesta case, by Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Co Ltd, London 1926, engraved with The Times newspaper emblem and the latin phrase Ictus Meus Utilis Esto (May My Strike Be Useful), 6cm long
These vestas were presented to male office workers at the Times Newspaper, who swapped their suits for overalls to keep the newspaper alive during the General Strike of 1926
Women who did the same were given a powder compact.
